This salmon is one of my favorite ways to get a healthy dinner on the table without any fuss. The mix of sweet maple syrup and salty soy sauce creates a glaze that everyone in my house loves, even the kids.

I usually serve this with mashed potatoes or some crispy brussels sprouts on the side. If you have time, let the fish sit in the sauce for a bit before cooking to get the best flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

7Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.

  2. 2

Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, then let them sit for about 15 minutes.

  3. 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.

  4. 4

Add the salmon to the pan with the skin side facing up and cook for about 4 minutes until the top is golden.

  5. 5

Flip the fillets over and pour the remaining marinade from the dish into the pan.

  6. 6

Cook for another 4 or 5 minutes while the sauce bubbles and thickens into a sticky glaze.

  7. 7

Remove the pan from the heat and spoon the extra glaze over the fish right before you serve it.

Tips

You can store any leftover salmon in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. It actually tastes great cold when flaked over a fresh green salad the next day.
