If you have seen the viral Dubai chocolate trend, you will love this bite sized version. These dates are incredibly easy to put together but feel like something you would buy at a fancy candy shop.

The secret is the kataifi pastry, which gives the filling a satisfying crunch. If you cannot find kataifi, you can substitute it with finely chopped toasted nuts or even crushed phyllo dough for a similar texture.

Ingredients

  • 12 large Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1/2 cup pistachio butter
  • 1 cup kataifi pastry, shredded and toasted
  • 1 cup milk or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • Chopped pistachios for garnish

7Instructions

  1. 1

Use a knife to carefully slice each date open lengthwise and remove the pit.

  2. 2

In a small bowl, mix the toasted kataifi pastry with the pistachio butter until well combined.

  3. 3

Spoon a generous amount of the pistachio mixture into the center of each opened date.

  4. 4

Melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together in the microwave using thirty second intervals, stirring until smooth.

  5. 5

Dip each stuffed date into the melted chocolate and place them on a parchment lined tray.

  6. 6

Sprinkle the tops with chopped pistachios before the chocolate sets.

  7. 7

Place the tray in the fridge for about 20 minutes until the chocolate shell is firm.

Tips

Store these in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep the chocolate shell snappy. They make a perfect edible gift if you wrap them in little paper liners.
