There is something so satisfying about a quick stir fry when you need a hearty dinner without spending hours at the stove. This beef and broccoli recipe is a staple in our house because it is fast, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with a side of warm brown rice.

You will love how tender the beef gets and how the broccoli stays perfectly crisp. It is a fantastic way to get a nutritious meal on the table for the family, even on the busiest Tuesday nights.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Cooked brown rice for serving

8Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth to create your sauce base.

  2. 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium high heat.

  3. 3

Add the sliced beef to the pan and sear until it is browned on all sides, then remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.

  4. 4

In the same pan, add the broccoli florets and a splash of water, covering the pan for two minutes to steam the broccoli until it is tender.

  5. 5

Add the garlic and ginger to the pan and stir for thirty seconds until fragrant.

  6. 6

Return the cooked beef to the pan and pour the sauce over everything.

  7. 7

Stir well until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli evenly.

  8. 8

Remove from heat, drizzle with sesame oil, and serve hot over brown rice.

Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. To reheat, just pop it in a pan over low heat with a tiny splash of water to keep the sauce from drying out.
