Spiced Cranberry Cherry Cobbler
A cozy dessert featuring tart cranberries and sweet cherries topped with a warm spiced biscuit crust.
enzo81.xyzThis cobbler is one of my favorite ways to celebrate the cool weather. The combination of bright tart cranberries and sweet cherries creates a beautiful balance that tastes like pure comfort in a bowl.
I love adding a touch of orange zest and warm spices to the topping. It makes the whole kitchen smell wonderful while it bakes. Be sure to serve it while it is still warm from the oven for the best texture.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
8Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a medium baking dish.
- 2
In a large bowl, toss the cherries, cranberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and orange zest until the fruit is evenly coated. Pour this mixture into your prepared baking dish.
- 3
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- 4
Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
- 5
Gently stir in the milk until a soft dough forms.
- 6
Drop spoonfuls of the dough over the fruit mixture, spacing them out slightly.
- 7
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the fruit filling is bubbling and the biscuit topping is golden brown.
- 8
Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Tips
Serve this warm with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of fresh whipped cream. You can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave or oven before eating.
