Easy Philly Cheesesteak Pasta Bake
This cheesy pasta bake brings all the savory flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak right to your dinner table.
enzo81.xyzIf you love a good Philly cheesesteak sandwich, you are going to adore this casserole. It has all the savory ground beef, sautéed peppers, onions, and mushrooms you expect, but mixed with tender pasta and a creamy cheese sauce that makes it feel extra cozy.
It is a fantastic meal for busy weeknights because it comes together quickly and always leaves everyone full and happy. My best tip is to make sure you do not overcook your pasta while boiling it, since it will soften up even more once it hits the oven.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 12 ounces cavatappi or penne pasta
- 2 cups shredded pepper jack cheese
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1 cup beef broth
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
8Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2
Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted water according to the package directions until it is just al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 3
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté until they are soft, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- 4
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until it is browned. Drain any excess fat.
- 5
Stir in the minced garlic, beef broth, and cream cheese. Cook, stirring constantly, until the cream cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.
- 6
Combine the cooked pasta with the beef and vegetable mixture in a large baking dish. Toss well to coat everything in the sauce.
- 7
Top the casserole with the shredded pepper jack and provolone cheese.
- 8
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and starting to turn golden brown on top.
Tips
Leftovers store beautifully in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can reheat individual portions in the microwave or place the whole dish back in a warm oven until heated through. Serve this with a crisp side salad to balance out the richness.
