Creamy Louisiana Chicken Pasta
A rich and spicy pasta dish featuring crispy parmesan chicken over bowtie noodles in a creamy Cajun sauce.
enzo81.xyzThis copycat version of the classic Louisiana Chicken Pasta is a favorite in my house because it tastes just like the restaurant original. The combination of crispy breaded chicken and a zesty cream sauce makes for a very satisfying meal that is perfect for a special dinner at home.
I love adding plenty of fresh bell peppers and mushrooms to the sauce to give it a little more texture and color. If you are short on time, you can prep the chicken and sauce components ahead of schedule to make the final assembly quick and easy.
Ingredients
- 2 large chicken breasts, sliced into strips
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 12 ounces bowtie pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
8Instructions
- 1
Cook the bowtie pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to the package directions, then drain and set aside.
- 2
In a shallow bowl, mix the parmesan, breadcrumbs, and one teaspoon of Cajun seasoning together.
- 3
Press the chicken strips into the breadcrumb mixture until they are well coated on all sides.
- 4
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken strips until they are golden brown and fully cooked through, then remove them from the pan.
- 5
In the same skillet, add the bell peppers and mushrooms, sautéing them until they are tender.
- 6
Pour the heavy cream and the remaining tablespoon of Cajun seasoning into the skillet, stirring well and letting it simmer until the sauce thickens slightly.
- 7
Add the cooked pasta and the chicken back into the skillet, tossing everything together until the pasta is coated in the creamy sauce.
- 8
Serve hot with a sprinkle of fresh green onions on top.
Tips
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. When reheating, add a splash of milk or cream to the pan to loosen up the sauce if it has thickened too much in the cold.
