I love making a mezze board because it is a simple way to bring people together without spending hours over a hot stove. It is basically a big spread of Mediterranean favorites like hummus, olives, and pita that everyone can pick at while they relax and chat.

The secret to a great board is variety. I like to mix different colors and textures so it looks beautiful on the table. You can use store bought dips to save time, but adding fresh parsley and a drizzle of good olive oil on top makes everything taste homemade.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hummus
  • 1/2 cup tzatziki
  • 1/2 cup baba ganoush
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 English cucumber, sliced into rounds
  • 1 cup Kalamata olives
  • 1 cup feta cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, sliced
  • 1/2 cup marinated artichoke hearts, drained
  • 4 large pita breads, warmed and cut into triangles
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

6Instructions

  1. 1

Find a large wooden board or a flat serving platter that has enough room for all your ingredients.

  2. 2

Put your dips like the hummus, tzatziki, and baba ganoush into small bowls and place them at different spots on the board.

  3. 3

Arrange the sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and roasted peppers in neat piles around the bowls of dip.

  4. 4

Fill in the remaining gaps on the board with the olives, feta cheese cubes, and artichoke hearts.

  5. 5

Warm your pita bread in a dry pan or a low oven for a few minutes, then tuck the warm triangles around the edges of the platter.

  6. 6

Drizzle a little olive oil over the hummus and sprinkle the fresh parsley over the whole board to give it a bright finish.

Tips

To save time, you can chop the vegetables and store them in the fridge earlier in the day. Keep the pita bread wrapped in a clean towel after warming it so it stays soft until you are ready to serve.
