Perfect 5 Minute Boiled Corn on the Cob
This is my go to way to get sweet and juicy corn on the cob in just a few minutes.
enzo81.xyzNothing says summer quite like fresh corn on the cob. I love making this when I want a quick side dish that everyone at the table will enjoy. It is so simple to prepare and comes out perfectly sweet every single time.
My secret for the best results is to add a small pinch of sugar to the water while it boils. This little trick brings out the natural sugars in the corn and makes every bite taste like pure summer sunshine.
Ingredients
- 4 ears of fresh corn, husked and silk removed
- Water for the pot
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
6Instructions
- 1
Fill a large pot with enough water to cover the corn and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 2
Add the sugar to the boiling water.
- 3
Carefully drop the corn ears into the water.
- 4
Let the water return to a boil and cook the corn for exactly 5 minutes.
- 5
Remove the corn from the pot using tongs.
- 6
Serve immediately while hot with a generous spread of butter and a sprinkle of salt.
Tips
Store any leftover corn by cutting the kernels off the cob and keeping them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Use the leftovers in salads or stir fries for a quick flavor boost. If you are serving a crowd, you can keep the corn warm in a clean cooler lined with towels.
