Copycat Chipotle Cilantro Lime Sauce
A creamy, zesty, and slightly spicy sauce that tastes just like the version from your favorite burrito spot.
enzo81.xyzIf you love that cool and tangy sauce from Chipotle, you are going to be so happy with this version. It is perfect for drizzling over burrito bowls, tacos, or even using as a dip for your favorite chips.
The secret here is roasting the jalapeño to take away some of the raw bite and bring out a nice depth. My biggest tip is to make sure you use fresh lime juice instead of the bottled kind because it really makes the citrus flavor pop.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup fresh cilantro, packed
- 1 jalapeño, roasted and seeded
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
5Instructions
- 1
Roast the jalapeño over an open gas flame or under your oven broiler until the skin is charred and the pepper is soft.
- 2
Once the pepper cools, remove the stem and seeds.
- 3
Place the roasted jalapeño, sour cream, cilantro, lime juice, cumin, and salt into a food processor or blender.
- 4
Pulse the mixture until it is smooth and the cilantro is finely chopped.
- 5
Taste and adjust the salt if needed, then store it in the fridge until you are ready to eat.
Tips
Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to three days. This sauce tastes best if you let it chill for at least an hour before serving so the flavors have time to mingle.
